VOVCOD - The Voluntary Organization for Vulnerable Community Development is a Local Non Governmental Organization based in Trincomalee District. The root of the organization lies in the late 1980’s when a group of youth commenced voluntary service activities for their own vulnerable community in Gandhi Nagar in Trincomalee. However intensification of the conflict and consequent displacement prevented the group from expanding its activities. |

With normalcy slowly returning the group restarted activities in May 2002 and VOVCOD was registered
as a local organization in November 2003 under the NGO act by the divisional secretary Town and
Grivets Trincomalee. |

To develop their basic education and to bring them up to a higher status.To induce them to engage themselves in doing income generation activities and also to make avenues for their employments. To strengthen their social and to ensure their political
rights. To enhance the women and children rights and for their Protection. To make awareness for their health and nutritionstatus. To provide relief assistance to the re-settlers to lead a livelihood sustainable. To improve the standard living. Promote
healthy environment thought peace awing the multi-ethnic, multi-religion community. |
